"What are we going to do?"
"Something very foolish."
Amazon reviewers have called The Princess and The Fool "Game of Thrones meets Brothers Grimm meets Disney", "like Vonnegut wrote Discworld", "a joy to read", "a fast-paced, entertaining romp that I couldn't put down", "beautifully written with buckets of heart" and "hilarious, surprising and moving"!
Princess Katherine of Elderhaime is engaged to be married to a man she's never met. Frankly, she's a bit hacked off about it, but things are about to get a whole lot worse.
Katherine finds herself lost in the wilderness of an ancient, war torn world. With only her court Jester for protection, she races through a not-so-magical kingdom populated by swashbuckling heroes, sinister villains, witches, kings, nightmarish creatures and ninja children.
Nothing in this world is as it seems, including her foolish companion.
Pursued by outlaws and monsters, Katherine will be forced to decide between her hopes of true love and the chance for peace for her troubled land. So, y'know, no pressure...
The Princess and the Fool is a thrilling adventure dealing with duty, destiny, desire, danger and derring-do. A fairy tale with an irreverent sense of humour, a heart full of hope and a talking puppet.

like 2 minutes ago
By Bridget Cooney
Just finished it, like 2 minutes ago... I'm still trying to take it in, so this probably won't be the worlds greatest review. I'm giving this book 5 stars, not because it's destined to be one of the greats, but because it did the one thing I ask of a book and did it well. It caught my interest, kept it, and had me engaged all the way through. I cared. That's fairly rare with as much media as I consume.
If I am to be perfectly honest, it probably could have done with one more good proof read. And the language on occasion seemed to flow from modern to a more old fashioned fairy tale style in a way that was momentarily jarring. Neither of these issues gave me more than a seconds pause, and certainly didn't hinder my enjoyment of the novel. It was funny, exciting, sweet, and the bits that I thought were heading down a cliche road, turned out to be nothing of the sort, or at least tweaked in an interesting way. There were a few bits that I wasn't sure if they were intentionally silly, or unintentionally hammy. But again, it didn't seem to matter. It was a joy to read.
I really hope the hint at more to come proves true, I'd love to get more of their story.

Exactly the kind of book I have always liked!
By Molly McEnerney
This is exactly the kind of book I have always liked - fantasy that is way more realistic than €œrealistic€ literature. All the characters feel real - really likable, really deplorable, really pitiable, really human (or otherwise). They have all been living entire lives, and we only see the pieces of their lives which intersect with the story.
It€™s the kind of story that leaves me wondering not only €œWhat happens next?€ but also €œWhat happened before?€ I do hope to find out more about the history of many of these characters, places, and situations. I can imagine this world expanding out like a fractal into more novels, short stories, and other glimpses into its further reaches, its hidden corners, and its past and future.
I'm planning to buy another copy of this book for a friend who I think would also really like it. It reminds me of Blue Moon Rising, which has long been a favourite book of ours!

Heartwarming and beautifully written
By H. Noyes
This book was such a joy to read. The heroes and villains were equally lovable and interesting and the denouement was revealed in such an unexpected and wonderful way. I'd recommend this for any reader looking for a laugh as well as beautiful prose. Lovers of "The Princess Bride" would adore this novel.
