This comprehensive new introduction to interdisciplinary studies draws on recent advances in the field's burgeoning literature on learning and assessment. It is the first book to present these foundational principles in a textbook designed specifically for the introductory course. The book introduces students to the principles of the field, prepares them to produce quality work, and facilitates their working with topics, problems, or themes that span multiple disciplines. Its approach is succinct, conceptual, and practical.

Review
This text is comprehensive in approach, yet broken into three major parts that are easy for students to follow and to use to build their own work (I especially like the “learning outcomes” for each chapter). Its strength is that it situates interdisciplinary studies from the perspective of an undergraduate. (Angela Hunter 2012-12-10)
I would recommend this text to others. I find the book has more detail than the text I currently use and seems more appropriate as an introductory text given the level of students I normally teach in this course. It is a comprehensive and needed study of the literature of the field. (Pauline D. Gagnon 2012-12-10)
I am very likely to recommend this book. Our department continues to look for an introductory text that is friendly to undergraduate students, and this might fit the bill. The strengths of the book like in the emphasis on interdisciplinarity as an activity/process, the explanation of historical context, and the combination of theory and practice. (Andrew T. Arroyo 2012-12-10)
This book is comprehensive. The authors provide thoughtful support for the main ideas and ‘unpack’ technical and complex ideas. The use of examples and end of chapter exercises is consistent with learning theory. The integration of cognitive theory into the early chapters is a strength. Similarly, pointing out areas of interdisciplinary work that are contested strengthens the legitimacy of this work. (Jeannie Brown Leonard 2012-12-10)

Repetition Under Technical Names
By Cakes Green
I hope to post a more comprehensive review in the future. The core of my critique, is that this book expounds itself with regurgitation, rather than being concise and efficient in it's material.
The majority of times I visited the book, I found myself reaching the end of a section with the worry that I had simply done a phantom reading. However, on rereading, I found that I did effectively read the materiel, there was just nothing new to be said or retrained.
To understand the breadth of the materiel, just read the first couple of chapters, and then become familiar with the terms introduced later. In the longer rant I am developing, I copy selections of later book material and parallel it to the earlier content, to show how it it's the same information under the guise of "new" complex titles.
Perhaps it's my philosophical background which makes interdisciplinary ideas of cross subject integration come naturally. Perhaps I am missing the point of this book. I have neglected to say anything positive, but I will admit the book was well written (in grammar and flow);it has some nice practices and rubrics to help people who struggle with identifying interdisciplinary work.
in my capstone class where Repko's text was used, I ending up purchasing several books on writing research projects for BA and Graduate level work. These books contained the best lessons for my course. Repko is an example of rhetoric.

The best introduction available.
By David C. Ward
Many helpful diagrams, and how to's. Complex theoretical ideas explained in accessible ways. The best introduction available. Far exceeds other introductions.

Its a good book that helps you to figure out how to make sense of the disciplines you choose to solve complex problems.
